Business Development Manager - Software Sales - Public Sector
Role and Responsibilities
- Proactively generate new business opportunities and develop core propositions, through own initiative and a clearly defined sales strategy which will be supported by a full suite of marketing tools.
- Plan objectives for prospect/customer visits and reviews.
- Generate a substantive sales opportunity pipeline and achieve defined sales targets across all products.
- Produce highly polished strategic proposals and have the ability to present it at "C" level.
- Manage the sales opportunity process from end to end.
- To take ownership of the tender delivery process.
- Work closely with our 3rd party partners to ensure product promotion and sales target are met.
- Gain a deep understanding of non-customer organisations, including a clear understanding of their business objectives, plans and activities (short - medium & long term)
Skills & person specification
- Highly personable and well presented.
- Minimum of 5 years proven, successful and sustained sales record including a minimum of 2/3 years engagement in the full life cycle of complex technology and managed services solutions.
- Educated to graduate level preferred but exceptional candidates educated to A/GCSE level will be considered.
- Digitally Savvy with an innovative and creative sales mindset
- Software sales experience (preferably selling database or analytics software) is essential
- Experience of Local government procurement frameworks would be a distinct advantage. High level of integrity.
- Knowledge and experience of the Local Government Sector is essential.
- Experience of library sector is desirable but not essential.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Solid commercial acumen.
- Success in negotiating and managing commercial relationships with key strategic individuals.
- The ability to deliver compelling products demonstrations and provide tangible business benefits to the clients.
- Demonstrable consistent record of achieving revenue and profit targets in service based industry to Local Authorities.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills both verbally and written.
- Highly customer focused with strong persuasive and decisive approach gaining customer confidence.
- Team player, self-motivated, disciplined and enthusiastic coupled with strong work ethic.
