Project Manager - Contractor - 6 months
Location of role - Leeds
Directorate - Business Change
Reporting Line - Head of Change
Rate - GBP350 per day (negotiable)
Purpose of the Role
To manage projects approved by the Change Investments Board to successful completion.
Duties
The following are the principal duties of the role:
*Lead and manage project teams.
*Define and plan projects.
*Monitor, control, and report on projects.
*Manage issues, changes and risks.
*Enforce programme and project management methods and standards, and contribute to their development
*Understand, and anticipate, through research, where best practice in project management is going.
*Communicate and educate on project management within the firm.
*Coach, train, and mentor other project participants, as required.
*Work across the business to deliver innovative and effective solutions frequently using scarce resources and budget
Knowledge, skills and experience required
Mandatory Skills
*Project management - and significant experience as a project manager.
*Project planning & control
*Risk management
*Business case development & project budget management
*Portfolio management
*Workshop facilitation
*Interviewing
*Report writing and documentation
*Presentations
The following skills, while not mandatory, are desirable:
*Programme management
*Technology vendor/supplier management
*Training, coaching, mentoring
The ideal candidate will have
*Experience of working for a Professional Services company in a service delivery focussed environment, or in a management or internal consultancy
*Experience in project management, and as a project manager.
*Experience working with a project management tool (such as Microsoft Project)
*Been trained in one or more formal project management methods
*Experience of delivering both technology based projects and business change projects.
*Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
*Microsoft Office skills
The ideal candidate will be:
*Methodical, rigorous, analytical, persistent
*Literate, numerate.
*Highly organised, diligent, structured.
*Equipped with a full range of soft skills and techniques, to manage the people aspects of projects.
Expectations
The key performance measures for this role are:
*Project delivery, to cost, schedule and quality objectives.
*The ability to work with the project participants - their feedback will be the primary measure
*The ability to work with minimal supervision
*The ability to be flexible and adjust their approach to work with both business services teams and fee earning teams
