An exciting opportunity for one person to work for a leading Alzheimer’s charity, your role will cover Dementia Support Worker, Support Group Facilitator & Social Events Coordinator.

Dementia Support Worker / Support Group Facilitator / Social Events Coordinator
Location: Shropshire
Salary: £13,310 actual per annum
Contract type: Fixed term ending 31 March 2016
Hours: 24 hours per week, made up of:

- Dementia Support Worker 17.5 hours
- Group Coordinator 3.5 hours
- Social Events Coordinator 3.5 hours

Our client is the UK’s leading support and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers. There will be 850,000 people with dementia in the UK by 2015 with numbers set to rise to over 1 million by 2025.

They are looking for one person for the roles above (total of 24 hours per week)

The Dementia Support Worker element will provide support, information and guidance to people with dementia or their carers and wider family or friends.  This service is provided in a range of settings, including the clients home and in group settings.  The service may include signposting and providing referrals to other services.

In addition, they are also looking for someone to co-ordinate their singing for the brain group and to organise their art therapy group in Shrewsbury.

Educated to NVQ level 3 or equivalent, you will have excellent time management and, communication skills.  You will have proven facilitation skills as well as being a good listener.  You will also have a sound understanding of the value of groups. You should have relevant experience of record keeping and report writing and be confident in the use of IT. 

Experience of working with statutory and voluntary agencies would be an advantage.  An understanding of relevant legislation such as the mental capacity act is required and you must be able to travel independently.
