Reference: 16085 Start Date: Immediate Description: Main function of job : The purpose of the position is to improve extrusion processes within the factory to satisfy the requirements of clients and engineering specifications. In addition to these functions employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required Main duties (in order of priority)
  • Generating manufacturing specifications and instructions
  • Anticipating need for tooling & Equipment
  • Analysing non-conformances, proposing solutions and implementing corrective actions.
  • To trouble shoot daily production problems.
  • To investigate non-conformances, propose and implement solutions.
  • To give production all the necessary information for carrying out manufacturing operations.
  • Establishing process design rules and laws, to ensure standardisation of work practices within the Methods department.
  • Automation of Methods department operation by creating programs, spreadsheets and databases.
  • Identifying and introducing of improvements in the manufacturing processes, equipment and working practices
  • Identifying and defining of in house manufacturing trials
  • The management of investment projects
  • Generating reports, analyses, specifications, calculations, etc as required.
  • Occasional assistance with technology support, equipment advice, liaison with both internal and external organisations with respect to computer software, hardware, repair requirements and systems for the Technical/Engineering Department as directed by the Process Engineering Manager.
  • Following, developing and implementing Quality Health and Safety management procedures.
  • Generation and maintenance of company Standing Instructions
Performance Measurement The individual performance and assessment criteria shall be established during the annual appraisal assessment between the employing Manager and jobholder. Health & Safety responsibilities All personnel are responsible to ensure their compliance with H&S Management Systems in accordance with the principles, objectives and targets of the company's policy and in compliance with statutory provisions, taking account the complexity and business risks involved in operations. Working conditions/degree of effort required Generally normal office and factory surroundings. A certain degree of effort is required in order to achieve agreed targets & objectives Qualifications /Experience required At least 3 years' experience in extrusion of thermoplastic materials in mainly PA, PE, PVC, PU. Design knowledge of tooling for extrusion of long length tubes and sheathing of large cables. Capable of trouble shooting processing problems in a high speed manufacturing environment. Other relevant information It may be necessary at times to work unsociable hours to meet the needs of the business. Due to the nature of the role travelling to other TUS sites is a requirement of the role
