User Researcher/Agile/Digital/Testing/HTML/CSS

2 YEAR FTA POSITION AVAILABLE IN LONDON

Salary from GBP 51886 to GBP 61745 plus GBP 2250 Retention Allowance + pension + 25 days holiday + GBP 5000 Training Budget Allowance

A large, fast paced Government department is recruiting for hands on and digitally savvy, User Researchers, to join their dynamic team. This is a new position which will be at the forefront of leading continuing digital transformation, across this department and the wider Government on complex products, which will be improving online services to millions of people. This department researches, designs and builds all their services in house, where you will have the opportunity to work with and lead many highly skilled individuals. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned Researcher who has previous experience working in multi/disciplinary teams within an Agile environment. You will be required to hit the ground running and take a lead on this research area to define designs and strategies for various digital platforms.

Essential Skills/(You will be screened against these requirements at the initial sifting stage):

* Demonstrable knowledge, experience in and passion for web user centered design practices.

* Proven experience of gathering user requirements for web based services.

* Proven experience of managing, executing and analysing usability test sessions.

* Proven experience of working in an agile development environment with User Experience teams, designers and developers to create new digital products and services.

* Experience of identifying and understanding user groups and communicating needs using methods such as design personas.

Desirable Skills:

* Experience across web content, tools and transactional services, especially those with complex user journeys.

* Experience within a research and digital environment.

* Knowledge of GOV.UK and the Government Digital Service Standards.

* Degree in HCI/Usability/Cognitive Psychology/Anthropology/Human Sciences or related field.

Key Responsibilities:

* Providing mentorship and shadowing opportunities for lower level researchers in the team.

* Working closely with Service Managers to devise effective research strategies.

* Hands on working style in an Agile environment.

* Analysis of research findings and production of actionable insights based on this.

* Creation of prototypes using HTML and CSS coding.

* Usability testing on aforementioned prototypes to continuously improve developments.

* Application of ethnography to all prototype developments.

* Influencing stakeholders based on research findings.
