Assistant Strand Leader / Assistant Head of English

An Assistant Strand Leader / Assistant Head of English is sought to join this state-funded, independent academy based in Bolton.

The academy opened in 2009, and is a 900 place specialist education facility for 11-16 year olds. The academy has a high proportion of students with English as an additional language, and provides a culturally rich and diverse learning environment.

They are now seeking an Assistant Strand Leader / Assistant Head of English to join their faculty, to lead the team of English Teachers alongside the Strand Leader.

Title: Assistant Strand Leader / Assistant Head of English
Location: Bolton
Salary: £38,596 - £42,596 per annum

The Assistant Strand Leader / Assistant Head of English will be responsible with the Strand Leader for the following:
- Leading the English teaching team
- Developing the English curriculum
- Developing an academy wide single pedagogical framework upon which Teaching and Learning is developed
- Working with the Strand Leader to develop the chilli curriculum through the development of iTunesU courses

The ideal Assistant Strand Leader / Assistant Head of English will possess the following:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- A demonstrable commitment to continuing professional development
- The experience and desire to develop use of innovating teaching, underpinned by ICT as a tool for young learners
- A proven track record in delivery of English GCSE
- A degree in English
- An enhanced DBS check
- The flexibility to work outside of normal working hours
