The Client
As a global supplier of heavy engineered products to industries including aerospace and energy, this multinational organisation would like to recruit a high calibre Mechanical Plant Engineer.

The Role
This is a wide ranging role with focus spread across plant maintenance, design, manufacturing engineering, project management and regulatory compliance.

Specific tasks will include:

•    Specification, sourcing and installation of appropriate plant equipment
•    Design of special purpose machines or modifications for existing equipment
•    Manage the plant engineering effort to ensure all projects are completed on time and within budget
Assess the cost/efficiency benefits of alternative machinery and make suitable recommendations
Ensure all in-house and externally sourced designed projects fully comply with all relevant legislation, regulatory requirements and codes
•    Assist the maintenance department where appropriate with day to day problem solving activities
Visit company sites and supplier’ premises throughout the UK and abroad when necessary
Liaise with external bodies such as the Health & Safety Executive, Local Council, SEPA etc.

 
The Candidate
The Mechanical Plant Engineer is likely to have a degree level Mechanical Design qualification with Chartered status advantageous. He/she will possess experience in heavy engineering and batch production industry, with a strong and practical mechanical engineering bias including structural engineering, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Additionally, experience of heavy industrial capital plant engineering, design, development and purchase as well as knowledge and experience of using CAD systems (Autodesk Inventor, Solidworks, etc) is required.
