Job Details:
Our Client is a leading supplier of chicken and turkey products into an impressive range of customers in the UK retail and food service sectors and they are currently looking to recruit a Trainee Farm Support Manager based in Chippenham, Wiltshire, SN15. This is a tremendous opportunity to work for a fully integrated business controlling the whole product supply chain, which includes feed mills, farms, hatcheries and factories with associated transport and logistics functions that employ more than 2000 people.
The Role:
• The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring bird welfare, (including checking food and drink systems are functioning appropriately), health and safety, ensuring optimum hygiene and catching standards and maintaining bird vaccination needs. Maintaining and updating bio-security measures is also imperative.
• Duties include attending various broiler farms in order to assist in all operative aspects of the day to day running of the site throughout the growing cycle from chick placement to depletion.
• Other duties include documenting farm data and records, to deliver farm stores as directed and provide cover for farm managers and trainees during their absence, which may involve night cover of alarms.
• The role is hands on and involves a degree of physical demand, such as lifting feed and equipment up to a maximum of 25kg.
Key Skills & Experience:
• The successful applicant must have experience of working with livestock and knowledge of poultry broilers is desirable. They will be an effective communicator, flexible, reliable and forward thinking and able to work both on their own and within a small team.
• The hours of work are based on 48 hours per week; however, weekend and bank holiday work is a requirement of the position. It is also essential that the successful candidate has a full driving license and access to their own vehicle as this position will involve travelling.
