DATA SCIENTIST/DATA ANALYST/DATA MANAGER/BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE ANALYST - Manchester

Newly created team with a leading Financial Services organization. The aim of the role will be to produce telematics analysis to support the Pricing department to deliver their objectives. To plan and lead assigned pieces of work, managing telematics colleagues where appropriate

Specific responsibilities include:

  • To create telematics pricing models & MI reports - both periodic and ad hoc with only high level review and limited changes required prior to submitting

  • Presentation of reports to internal stakeholders

  • Provide insight and interpretation of telematics data to colleagues within Pricing

  • Present viable options/recommendations to managers/Function leaders

  • Respond to queries from the business with minimal referral to more senior colleagues

  • To challenge and make improvements where appropriate to existing methods, processes, procedures and documentation

  • Check, validate and test data

  • Undertake very technical/complex analysis using SQL expertise and analytic techniques

  • Participate in project activity and lead work streams as required

  • Monitor compliance with controls and procedures within the team

  • Delivering to deadline/project plans

To be considered you'll require:

  • IT skills - high level of SQL programming proficiency with particular understanding of telematics platform and processes within the role and within their team

  • Technical & systems knowledge - excellent understanding of advanced statistical analysis techniques and ability to convey this to more junior colleagues and business management

  • Good understanding of the market and economic climate to inform any advice, recommendations and interpretations

  • Understanding of the bigger picture' and political environment in which they operate

  • Legislative/regulatory requirements relevant to role

  • Ability to successfully communicate in a professional manner with internal departmental stakeholders (verbal and written)

  • Strong listening skills

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Ability to effectively time manage own workload and where appropriate that of others

  • High level of computer literacy with good understanding of both SQL and specialist statistical packages (as appropriate)

  • Interpersonal skills and self-awareness - proactive in seeking out development opportunities

  • Ability to support and coach more junior members of staff
