Technical Author - Senior

Our award-winning, global technology client is looking for a proactive, detail oriented technical author to join its technical publications team. Working as part of a large team, you will be responsible for producing a range of highly technical, topic-based content for customers' developers and engineers. You will also be required to line manage/mentor a small team of two or three technical authors. There is lots of scope for future career progression and opportunities to learn new skills and technologies.

As the successful candidate you will have:

• A proven track record as a technical author in highly technical hardware or software environments.
• Experience line managing, coaching or mentoring small teams of technical authors (eg setting and tracking objectives, developing team members and managing performance).
• A demonstrable interest in maintaining rigour and precision while producing and editing highly-specialised technical reference material.
• Relevant experience and interest in new technology, and actively seek to develop new skills.
• Knowledge of any of the following: Content management systems, version control systems, vector graphics packages, DITA, Eclipse.
• An understanding of the documentation and engineering project life cycles.
• The ability to work with minimal supervision and be a self starter.
• Good organisational and interpersonal skills to manage the flow of information from contributors and reviewers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail-oriented and with a proactive working style

Desirable experience/skills:

• Embedded electronics, microprocessors or SoC designs.
• C, C++ or related OO language.
• Perl, Python or similar Scripting language.
• HTML, XML or XSLT.
