A number of exciting opportunities have arisen for Outreach workers, who will support the delivery of the Greater Manchester contract communications service through a number of outreach and engagement activities. As a member of the communications team you would be contributing to the planning, development and delivery of communications functions and improvements.

Our client have a number of positions available offering both full and part time hours which would be discussed should you be successful at progressing to the interview stage.

The role will involve evening and weekend working and will require the successful candidate to work flexibly.

Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Deliver a sustained, high profile and structured programme of targeted waste prevention/reduction and recycling communications campaigns involving a multi-agency approach encouraging waste prevention, re-use and recycling in the Greater Manchester region using best practice models and toolkits
  • To be responsible for delivering key tasks to support Campaign delivery to time and budget
  • To undertake research within the Campaign areas
  • To work within the community to develop relationships with residents, local businesses and volunteers
  • To undertake an active engagement role to ensure the delivery of key messages within the campaigns
  • To be actively involved in supporting the recruitment of focus groups
  • To be responsible for carrying out and monitoring door to door survey activities
  • To be involved in tasks relating to event organisation
  • To manage, support and record the actions of charities, volunteers and external contractors
  • To provide progress updates to the Communications Manager, Senior Communications Officer and Campaigns Officer as required

Knowledge / Skills / Experience essential to the role:-

  • Educated to GCSE level (A-C in English and Maths)
  • Current full driving licence and use of your own vehicle
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Able to communicate effectively and deliver campaign messages to a wide range of audiences
  • Proven organisation and planning skills and experience of working in a time managed environment.

Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge of the waste industry and local government environmental services
  • A communications/behaviour change qualification/training
  • Experience in community engagement and focus group settings
  • Previous experience of working on projects that focus on behaviour change
