Edinburgh University Students’ Association is looking for a permanent Bars Service Manager , with responsibility across all EUSA Bars. They are offering a highly competitive salary of up to £21,500 per annum, depending upon experience

The Bars Service Manager will work closely with the EUSA Bars Manager in order to ensure the smooth, efficient operation and highest standard of service and bar & food quality at all times.

With the support of the Bars Manager, the successful Bars Service Manager applicant will hold responsibility within the following areas:

- Staff management, development & support

- Standards of service

- Business development & efficiency

- General support for the Bars Manager and EUSA operations

Specific responsibilities of the Bars Service Manager include:

- Ensuring the effective and efficient operation of all the Bars outlets across EUSA

- Supporting all Bars Shift Managers, Senior Team Leaders and Team Leaders, ensuring the delivery of consistently excellent standards of service, quality, efficiency and hygiene in all EUSA outlets

- Ensuring that all appropriate development and performance appraisal activities are carried out within the Bars department

- Assisting the Bars Manager in developing trade and profitability within the agreed pricing and margin structures

- Accurately managing the most efficient and cost effective use of staff hours across all Bars outlets.

- To oversee cellar and stock control activities

- Ensuring compliance with all current legislation and licensing regulations.

- Deputising in the Bars Manager’s absence, and supporting with any other relevant projects/activities as necessary

You must have:

- At least five years’ experience of managing staff (including a large number of part time staff) in a customer-focussed bars role.

- Excellent knowledge of all product sold in bars and how to deliver them to the highest quality standard

- Experience of assisting in the development and delivery of staff training, development and induction processes.

- High personal standards of performance and pride in your work and high expectations of your team and organisation and knowledge of how to realise those expectations.

- Experience of managing customer flow and peaks/troughs in demand.

- Experience of cash handling and management.
