Our client is a national charity that supports and campaigns for children and adults who are deafblind. They provide tailored support, advice and information as well as specialist services to all deafblind people, their families, carers and the professionals who work with them. In addition, they support people who have a single-sensory impairment with additional needs.

About the job

They are currently recruiting for a Specialist Support Worker (Intervenor) to work 20 hours per week in Welshpool on a permanent basis.

The role of this Intervenor is to provide personalised, responsive, flexible and high quality support service to a congenitally deafblind adult.  The person we are looking for will support the deafblind person to access leisure, education and other developmental opportunities, primarily in the local community.  Also on occasions you will be required to support the deafblind person and their child in various activities.

You will have the creativity and energy to support the deafblind person in a variety of established and new activities, as well as to help the individual both maintain and develop a range of personal skills.  You will provide support in particular to promote and develop their communication and independence skills. Training will be provided.

A full UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle is an essential requirement for this role. However, our client will endeavour to make reasonable adjustments for any disabled candidates that apply.
