As a premium brand for polymer-based solutions, our client is a worldwide leader in the sectors of construction, automotive and industry. You encounter their systems every day, without even noticing them, and whilst they may be invisible, their benefits are always tangible. More than 19,000 employees at 180 locations around the globe apply their expertise and innovative skills to ensure the continuous growth of our client’s independent, privately-owned company.

They currently have a fantastic opportunity for an Applications Engineer to join their multi-disciplined team, specialising in renewable energy.

Working in a dynamic environment with colleagues from a wide range of different backgrounds, you must provide technical support to both customers and the sales team on a range of renewable solutions (ground source, biomass, district heating). Responsible for producing designs and preparing quotations and material lists from drawings, the Applications Engineer will have opportunities for first-hand experience in manufacturing, training others, and building up a professional network, in addition to being involved in product development.

Dealing both externally with consultants and contractors on a variety of construction projects, and also internally with the specification sales force, you must be prepared to give design advice, deal with tenders / quotes for large projects, and also implement customer feedback into product development.

With a background in Building Services or HVAC, the successful candidate will ideally hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering and should have a good knowledge of renewable energy solutions, building heating / cooling systems design and district heating network design. Proficient in MS Office and CAD software, experience that includes thermodynamics and fluid dynamics in relation to pipe network design would be extremely advantageous.

With strong communication skills, some experience of Project Management would be beneficial and, although not essential, the ability to speak German is considered desirable. You should hold a full driving licence as travel to customer / supplier meetings is required.
