They provide tailored support, advice and information as well as specialist services to all deafblind people, their families, carers and the professionals who work with them. In addition, they support people who have a single-sensory impairment with additional needs.

Our client has been helping people who are deafblind and with sensory impairments to enjoy more independent lives for over 60 years. They support and campaign for people of all ages, from children through to older people, with a wide range of sight and hearing difficulties and associated communication needs or additional learning disabilities. They provide tailored support, advice and information as well as specialist services to individuals, their families, carers and the professionals who work with them.

About the job

They are looking for a reliable and motivated person to join their professional team of Support Workers at their service in Accrington working 20 hours per week on a permanent basis.

As a support worker you will provide a customised, responsive and high quality service to people with multiple sensory impairments and/or learning disabilities. You will be empowering the deafblind person to live as independently as possible with appropriate levels of support.

Your role will be to provide practical support, including intimate personal care, completing all the relevant documentation promptly and accurately. You will ensure that the living accommodation is respected as someone’s home, carrying out any domestic duties, such as cleaning, washing and ironing, that is necessary.

You will regularly liaise with other members of staff in order to co-ordinate assessments on appropriate deafblind people.

As a Support Worker you will work as part of a flexible team across a seven day rota which includes early and late shifts with opportunities for extra hours. This role will include sleep-ins.

A full UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle is an essential requirement for this role. However, they will endeavour to make reasonable adjustments for any disabled candidates that apply.

Our client will be holding an Assessment day on 23 April 2015.

No previous experience is necessary as they offer a full training program which can lead to recognised qualifications.
