Our client, provides a range of social care, special education, community support and consultancy services in the North West of England. The charity is one of the North West’s largest providers of residential homes for children from short-term emergency care to long-term placements. Their fostering service provides family placements in the North West and neighbouring regions.

They provide some of the leading specialist education services in the North West region, operating a range of special schools, a further education college and centres supporting those who cannot attend mainstream schools. In addition they offer a wide range of training, consultancy and support services for parents and carers.

They are now looking to appoint Level I and Level II Social Workers at their Preston Fostering service.

Working within the relevant Area Fostering Team, you will work alongside social work staff at the Trust’s other Fostering Service offices and their residential units and undertake all the core social work tasks within the remit. Core tasks include recruitment, training, supervision, support and review of the Trust’s foster carers families alongside the completion of a target number of competency based foster carer assessments.

With a professional qualification in social work and full registration with the General Social Care Council, the successful candidate will be a strong team player and have previous appropriate and relevant knowledge in family placement / child protection / residential social work. With excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work in a pressurised environment, you should have detailed knowledge of all relevant legislation and accompanying Guidance and Regulations and a good understanding of recent Government initiatives.

Candidates who wish to be considered for the Level ll post must possess skills in assessment, supervision and support of foster and adoption families or have the ability to achieve these. You must also have proven post qualifying experience with at least one year in a family placement team.

Due to the nature of the role, candidates must be flexible to accommodate some evening and weekend work and be able to participate in the out of hours service.
