This is an exciting new opportunity for Tutor/Assessors in Functional Skills to join our hard working team. This role will be based in Prescot, delivering within our training centre.

Based within the Apprenticeships Team you will support assessors and vocational tutors with the integration of functional skills and sharing of best practice, undertake tutorial reviews, either on a one-on-one basis or as a group and assist with recruitment by interviewing, enrolling and inducting students. You would be expected to carry out the necessary administration related to the teaching programme, undertaking duties associated with the design and development of teaching materials and learning resources while also participating in the extra-curricular activities of the department

The successful candidate will have a Cert Ed and/or PTTLS, CTTLS or DTTLS, English and Maths and be proficient in the use of ICT.. You must have experience of teaching/assessing, and ideally experience of working with apprentices. An IQA qualification (Internal verification) would be desirable, as would the ability to teach to a GCSE level Maths and English.

With a creative approach to teaching and curriculum planning, you must have the ability to establish appropriate relationships with apprentices and employers and also be able to demonstrate good organisational and administrative skills.

You will be expected to work flexibly in line with the requirements of the post.

Some variations to this job description may occur dependent upon projects/funding and changes within the industry during the one year fixed term period.

 

  • Screening, invigilating, testing and assessing applicants
  • Assist applicants with their interview techniques and CV development when required

·    Develop and deliver top quality Literacy and Numeracy sessions to address the F/S components of the Apprenticeship Framework (levels 1, 2 &3)

 

·    Work in collaboration with schools, community groups, JCP, local authorities to identify target areas and potential learners for appropriate Functional Skills courses.

 

·    Carry out initial learner assessments and initial diagnostic assessments.

 

·    Motivate and encourage learners, seeking additional support from outside agencies if required.

 

·    Support learners in collecting evidence for accreditation by building portfolios.

 

·    Signpost onto other services as appropriate.

 

·    Identify PR opportunities and case studies.

 

·    Liaise with Safeguarding Officer as appropriate.

 

·    Build networks with likeminded agencies and attend LLDD network meetings

 

·    Support the wider Apprenticeship team in other activities.

 

·    Assess learners for Dyslexia signifiers

 

  • Support learners with Dyslexia (training will be given)

·    Register learners with awarding bodies in a timely manner.                                     

 

·    Work within the established administrative and financial systems to ensure smooth           running/quality of projects which support timely achievement rates.

 

  • Complete learner plans with SMART target dates for achievement of F/S components

·    Contribute to the processes of forward planning, monitoring and evaluation.

 

·    Develop working practices in line with Equality and Diversity and Safeguarding policies.

 

·    Be aware of, adhere to, and assist with the development of health and safety practices.

 

·    Complete forms and returns accurately and on time for funders/contract suppliers

 

  • Develop and deliver individual and group training sessions

Technical Skills and Knowledge

Knowledge of Dyslexia and e-portfolios an advantage.
