Senior Family Support Worker (PW3)

£26,862 – £30,661 per annum

37 hours a week

Fixed term until 30^th November 2018

The Family Support Team (FST) is seeking to appoint a highly skilled Senior Family Support Worker. You will have substantial experience with children and young people in a family support service setting and a good knowledge of safeguarding. You will be required to supervise staff, hold a small case load and assist in the on-going development of the service.

The FST is a component of the Integrated Family Support Services (IFSS).  Under collaborative arrangements the IFSS is delivered jointly in partnership between Newport Children’s Services and Barnardo’s. The aim of the IFSS is to provide multi-agency, evidence based interventions that integrate seamlessly for children, young people and their families.

The FST undertake specific pieces of direct work with children/young people and/or their families according to needs identified in a social work assessment.  The plan of work is flexible, designed to meet the needs of the family with regular visits and specific identified resources used according to the need.  The aim is to work with children, young people and families to help them deal with their situation, so they can cope with challenges on their own in the future.

The FST is increasingly developing its services to provide increased support for children and families in Newport.  You will be involved in the development of these new initiatives which includes work with those affected by domestic abuse, parenting programmes and working with families with special needs.

You will be based at Old Brynglas Hostel, Brynglas working with families across Newport.
