An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and customer focused Telephone Receptionist to join the UK’s market leading tour operator of escorted holidays by rail. The successful candidate will earn circa £13,200 based on a 32 hour week plus benefits and the opportunity to work in a growing and highly customer centric business in the heart of York’s city centre.
With over three decades of experience, there is no-one who understands holidays by rail better and with more than 300 adventures to over 40 countries across the globe; no-one offers a better choice of holidays by rail. Reporting to the Reception Supervisor, some of the activities that the Receptionist will be responsible for include:
• Greeting all visitors, ensuring they are welcomed and directed appropriately.
• Answer telephone calls, determine purpose of calls, and transfer the calls to the relevant person or department in a professional and efficient manner.
• Assisting customers with basic questions and queries and where necessary refer to them relevant department or, in the case of face to face, contact the relevant individual/team.
• Provide administrative support for the wider business as required with a flexible approach to work activities.
This position will include Evening and Weekend working as part of a rota.
The successful Telephone Receptionist should possess the following skills and experience:
• Experience of working in a busy telephone environment and telephone experience in relation to inbound and outbound call handling
• A friendly disposition with a professional telephone manner
• Proven experience of working in a customer focused environment with a strong emphasis on customer service
• Smart and presentable at all times
• Strong interest in travel with good geographical knowledge
• Capable of following written and verbal instructions and possess a clear and concise approach in verbal and written communication
• Excellent written English and numeracy skills
• Good general education and knowledge of Microsoft software packages
• Possess a methodical and organised approach to work, both individually and as part of a team
