Development Manager CRM required for a Permanent position

Our client is undertaking a major transformational project. Central to this project will be the implementation of an enterprise wide Customer Relationship Management (CRM) capability based on Microsoft Dynamics and associated technology.

You will establish, build, development and manage the CRM development and support function comprising of both developers and analysts and take a lead role in continuously improving Microsoft Dynamic capability and services.

With a Degree or equivalent qualification/experience, and significantly proven experience in CRM application development and support in a similar role, y ou will have substantial knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques and tools for development throughout the software development life cycle. You will also have significant experience of consulting and delivering services using Microsoft Technologies with a minimum of 18 months experience in a CRM support role, ideally with Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 or 2013.

With a good all round understanding of CRM functionality across marketing, sales and customer service, you shall also have an understanding of CRM architecture including, Marketing Automation (ideally ClickDimensions), system integration models (XML driven web services and SSIS), mobile access methods, workflow and dialog management and reporting tools. Additionally you shall have a good understanding of CRM Server Side scaling, services, and performance factors. Windows Server and SQL Server experience is desirable.

Main duties and responsibilities

The post holder will have responsibility for managing a team of software development and application support staff.

Specifically:

  • Leading a skilled technical team providing strong technical leadership to direct reports and maintaining the ability of the team to deliver on time.
  • Manage the development and testing of application components following agreed development standards ensuring that individual deliverables are tested and function as specified.
  • Plan and co-ordinate the use of resources to ensure that plans deliver all agreed objectives.
  • Lead activity to ensure a quality end-to-end design is defined that is aligned with defined architecture standards, system evolution plans and roadmaps.
  • Ensure that IT development strategy and standards are understood and promoted.
  • Ensuring delivery of quality artefacts by the team that conform to agreed standards for design, development, test and release management.
  • Document and maintain functional- and technical designs and configurations associated with new developments and the baseline platform
  • Manage the resolution of defects and issues, translating these into change requests for service improvements, ensuring logging and escalation procedures are followed correctly.
  • Manage a requirements backlog and maintain a shared platform development roadmap with the business and IT.
  • Manage the recruitment and development of team members including motivation, performance management, staff development and training.
  • Ensure specialist design and development knowledge is built-up in support of the long-term technical strategy.
  • Support IT third line application and service support processes.
  • Liaise with suppliers and their support teams as required.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent qualification, or significantly proven experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrable experience in the development of high volume, enterprise wide services and systems.
  • Demonstrable experience of consulting and delivering services using Microsoft Technologies
  • Ability to document and maintain a strategic view of the platform development roadmap with the business and IT colleagues
  • Proven experience of working as a Senior Developer and as a Development Manager/Team Leader.
  • Proven experience of working with methods and techniques for documenting standards and planning and monitoring progress of projects.
  • Expert knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques and tools for effective management of software development and application support throughout the software development life cycle.
  • Ability to communicate with users at all levels of the organisation, including the ability to explain complex or technical concepts to non-specialists.
  • Proven analytical skills, including the ability to present information effectively to a range of audiences.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines in a technical environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable

  • Experience of both Waterfall and Agile software development processes
  • Experience of working in an ITIL environment or other service management framework
  • Experience of working with Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 or 2013
  • MCTS in Dynamics CRM 2013 (or 2011). Specifically CRM Applications and Customisation and Configuration.
