Linux Systems Administrator (Java)
Linux Infrastructure Engineer required.
Ecommerce based organisation with a Central London are in need of a talented Linux Engineer that has experience working in a Java environment. This is an exciting project driven role that will offer you the chance to undertake high profile implementation project work within Red Hat Linux.
Responsibilities for the Linux Engineer:
- Looking for somebody to be a technical consultant and implementation specialist for new client implementations.
The Linux Infrastructure Engineer must:
- Have experience of working within a multi-discipline project delivery team, and lead the delivery of all infrastructure-related components
- Manage the creation process of Red Hat Linux environments within an ESX virtual framework
- Have a well-developed understanding of SAN and networking concepts
- Ensure all test and development environments for Self Serve are fit for purpose and upgrades are designed when required
- Design and test Self Serve Disaster Recovery when required as required by the business
- On an occasional basis, the BAU management of environments: (but not limited to) license/
certificate management (SSL server certs, JBoss/Red Hat, Easysoft and other middle-layer products)
- Direct the O/S and application patch management strategy in conjunction with the IT teams, Self Serve D/R/BCP testing (in conjunction with customer's requirements where appropriate)
- Be the Infrastructure contact for Kognitio, Paraccel and any other DWH technologies that participate in throughout project implementation phases
- Assist with consultation and implementation tasks relating to new business opportunities and continuous improvement (eg aligning incumbent installations with global strategy best practice - eg looking to move environments from physical to virtual presence).
TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES/SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THE Linux ROLE:
- Highly experienced Linux Systems Administrator
- Long experience in installing multi-tiered Java applications
