SQL DBA/Database Administrator

A global property management arena, based in the City of London seek an experienced SQL DBA/
Database Administrator, ideally a good understanding of virtualising databases.

Role purpose for the SQL DBA/Database Administrator is:

  • Effective running of the companies Microsoft SQL Database Services, Server Infrastructure and related technologies company wide, looking to enhance and develop the existing infrastructure to provide a proactive approach to support and the successful implementation of new systems and services.

Responsibilities for the SQL DBA/Database Administrator knowledge are:

  • Maintain technical excellence so as to maximise service within the Support team, user departments and optimise commercial benefit to the company.

Responsibilities of the support department include:

  • Lead support analyst for Microsoft SQL Database Services including:

  • Logical and physical designs for application and database tuning.

  • Advanced Database performance tuning, design, and capacity planning.

  • Established standards for SQL installations, maintenance, tuning, and coding standards.

  • Implemented strategies for database highly availability and scalability.

    The SQL DBA/Database Administrator will ideally have a mix of the following skills:

  • SQL Server Data Engine.

  • SQL Server Reporting Services.

  • SQL Server Integration Services.

  • Citrix.

  • Windows Server OS's from 2000 onwards.

  • General virtualisation administration experience - including Hyper-V Server 2008 onwards and VMware VSphere 5.x.

  • Analytical, precise, with open questioning approach.

  • Ability to work under pressure and able to deliver projects to tight deadlines.

  • Highly proficient at supporting, installing and tuning all versions of Microsoft SQL, including Windows server up to Windows 2012, and standard Microsoft applications.

  • Knowledge of writing and modifying SQL scripts

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must have strong interpersonal skills.
