Global Software Development Manager

We are actively recruiting for a Global Software Development Manager for our client based in West Yorkshire. The chosen candidate will be responsible for the Management of the global eCommerce Development capability- ensuring the best possible standards of quality and delivery performance.

Accountabilities:

• Establish and maintain a high performance technical web delivery function for the global business. Ensure that performance of all development team members globally is continually assessed to ensure that high performance is being achieved.
• Create a team structure and organisation that will deliver best in class web solutions (internal development and external recruitment).
• Provide organisational leadership and guidelines to promote the development and exploitation of technical knowledge in the organisation.
• Select and implement appropriate tools, templates and standards for the creation of quality web applications, appropriate to customer expectations. Set and impose all appropriate design and coding standards.
• Set direction and lead the introduction and use of techniques, methodologies and processes to match overall business requirements (both current and future), ensuring consistency across all regions.
• Identify, propose, initiate and implement significant improvement programmes, taking responsibility for the quality of the work performed and the realisation of measurable benefits
• Modify existing process approaches and/or develop new approaches to achieve improvement
• Identify the training and educational requirements necessary to grow staff skills within the global eCommerce development team in line with business needs and future strategy.

Skills

In-depth commercial development experience utilising technologies to include:

• JAVA/J2EE, HTML, JavaScript
• Enterprise J2EE Application Servers
• Open-Source technologies
• Oracle databases
• In-depth development experience managing development teams
• Working knowledge of Sun Solaris and UNIX environments
• Willing to learn new processes and apply to daily work
• Experience of providing technical leadership covering all stages in the software development process, advising development teams and monitoring performance
• A strong understanding of structured, Object Oriented development methodologies Technical leadership, definition and management of development standards and processes
• Experience developing solutions utilising a source/version control system and an understanding of deployment issues
• Full development life cycle experience
• Experience of implementing and managing Agile development practices.Experience working in diverse global teams, including offshore

Our client is willing to consider candidates with technical experience on other platforms such as .NET and OpenSource provided there is clear evidence of experience around eCommerce systems.
