Following the success of Hoole Community Development Trust in securing Peoples Millions Funding in November 2014, the Trust is now taking forward this project and appointing to the key positions which will support the development of the ‘Hub’. The purpose of the Hub is to provide a focal point for community, centred on the relocated library and new community café. It will bring together people who may be socially isolated by providing a range of opportunities to both participate in and be involved in the delivery of activities.
JOB TITLE: Community IT Tutor
REPORTING TO: The Chair of the Board of Trustees (“The Board”)
JOB PURPOSE:
The Community IT Tutor will deliver high quality training and support in a range of IT skills and activities to targeted members of the local community. Whilst there will be a particular focus on supporting those with no/low IT skills this person will be working with individuals and groups with varying degrees of IT literacy. Tablet computers will be used to improve confidence and competence in various basic aspects of computer based communication and interaction skills. This post will also be involved in recruiting suitable learners who will benefit from this programme.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- To prepare and plan learning based on the needs of the individual and group. This will include course learning outcomes assessment and evaluation methods
- To use a variety of teaching methods to enable and support learning.
- To carry out and record initial and ongoing assessment in order to identify learning and support needs, review progress, evaluate and celebrate success.
- To provide advice and information to learners including appropriate referral for further learning support.
- To complete course registers accurately and maintain records learners
SKILLS REQUIRED
- Very good IT knowledge
- Knowledge of professional teaching and learning standards
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of good health and safety practices
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
LOCATION: Hoole Community Centre
SALARY: £25 per hour
PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT: this appointment will be for a period of approximately 6 months
HOURS OF WORK: Your hours of work will be an average of 4 hours per week with the specific arrangements to be determined in due course. Flexibility will be required for evening and weekend working.
