An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Assistant Accountant to join an established and successful commercial business based in Livingston on an interim basis. This role will provide technical and general accounting support to the business, specifically within financial reporting.

Duties will include;

  • Maintaining and reconciling nominal Ledger
  • Processing purchase ledger
  • Making sure month end and day to day accounts are reconciled and ensure correct posting into Sage accounting system
  • Bank reconciliation
  • Petty cash reconciliation
  • Processing sales ledger
  • Journal entries weekly and monthly
  • Assisting in preparation of reports including sales analysis report for the Financial Accountant
  • Intercompany balance reconciliation
  • Month end accruals and prepayments
  • Checking month end profit against forecasted profit and rectify any incorrect entries
  • Processing VAT returns

The successful candidate will possess technical accounting and financial reporting skills ideally within a large corporate environment.

  • Excellent IT / System skills - knowledge of Peoplesoft or ERP systems advantageous
  • Excellent communication skills - ability to build and maintain relationships and influence senior managers, business partners and junior team members
  • Strong technical accounting skills
  • Excellent analytical and numeracy skills
  • Strong organisational skills, ability to prioritise
  • Ability to deliver accurate information within strict timescales
