Two part-time Postdoctoral Research Fellowships in Geometry and Representation Theory (25.5 hours per week, 68% of full time)

Grade 7: Salary £20,695 p.a. (full time equivalent salary £30,434)

The Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford invites applications for two part-time Postdoctoral Research Fellows, funded by the EPSRC, to work in a research group on Geometry and Representation Theory. These are fixed-term positions for two years. The successful candidates must be in post on or before 1st October 2015.

The PDRFs will work on projects related to areas of the EPSRC grant supporting the research group, preferably concerning the categorification of Hall Algebras.  The PDRFs will be members of the research group and will be expected to take part in its activities, and to have an interest in and develop expertise in both geometry and representation theory.    The jobs include a requirement to do some undergraduate teaching, up to three sets of undergraduate classes per year.   In addition, if the PDRFs wish to do so, there are likely to be opportunities to do further paid undergraduate teaching, in the form of a lecture course, or university class teaching, or college tutorial teaching. This additional teaching should be done outside the 25.5 hours per week the PDRFs are employed by these posts, and would be paid in addition to the PDRF salary.

The successful candidates will be expected to have an undergraduate degree in mathematics, and a PhD in mathematics either awarded or submitted at the time of taking up the post. The PhD should be ideally be in algebraic geometry or representation theory.  We are looking for able candidates who will be able to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
