Asset System Management Flood Risk Engineer– North Area

Job purpose

Working as part of a team you will be one of four Area Engineers covering Northern Area Wales on managing Flood Risk Management Systems. As first point of contact for a designated operational area you will help provide technical opinion and engineering advice on Tidal and Fluvial flood Management, and, by applying a risk based approach, you will ensure the delivery of a consistent, practical, safe and value for money service.

 The role will work closely with other internal flood risk management teams including Flood Risk Analysis and Flood Incident Management.  It will also work in close co-operation with our professional partners and Lead local Flood Authorities.

Job Specific Requirements                                         

  • Relevant qualifications - Educated to degree level or equivalent experience in a scientific or engineering subject.
  • Experience in coastal and fluvial flood risk management activities
  • Role holder must be able to establish a positive culture of continuous improvement.
  • Good project management skills and knowledge with experience in delivering projects; PRINCE 2 trained being an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of GIS systems and mapping (ARCGIS or MAPINFO).
  • Good awareness of Health and Safety and relevant  regulations e.g. CDM
  • Great inter-personal skills, demonstrate success in coaching and development and ability to communicate successfully with others, external consultants and the public

 

Due consideration has been given to the Welsh language requirements for the post and the existing skills within the team. Taking this into consideration the Welsh language skills required for the post are at Level 3.

Level 3 - The ability to communicate with confidence in Welsh in some work situations 

This is a permanent, pensionable full time post.

Starting Salary of £24,578.00
