Front End Developer (PHP/Ruby/JS)
Who Are We?
Worldpay Online Payments is a new online service from WorldPay. The service allows small- to medium sized E-commerce businesses worldwide to start accepting payments from their website within hours.
We launched commercially in October 2014, and are now scaling the product for high traffic through 2015. Currently, we are scaling our Engineering and DevOps capability to deliver further new product features and an operational platform at scale.
The project is run as an intrapreneurial project to enable design & delivery autonomy of a next generation platform that has been built from the ground up using AWS, Angular and RESTful APIs. We're also keen users of Node.JS, Scala and Ruby; the right tools for the job will be your team's decision.
The team works in Tandem with our Product colleagues, and we run a mix of Scrum, Kanban and lean methods across the Infrastructure and Software engineering teams. If you like working in a well funded, fast paced environment, then come and talk to us!
What's The Role?
You will be responsible for designing and building software that adheres to agreed KPIs and NFRs in Production, also design and engineer shippable code with stability, scalability and security in mind. You will work closely with DevOps & Engineering to build a world class engineering pipeline ensuring that releases are stable, scalable & secure when deployed to live service
You will also work with Product to define approaches to feature delivery and will be committed to iterative development; you will have a talent for breaking down stories and allocating tasks effectively across the teams, unblocking issues as they arise
You'll be a strong advocate of Continuous Delivery of shippable software and will develop using TDD, BDD, Scrum & other Agile aspects associated with high performance teams
Who Are You?
You will possess strong PHP development experience (Ruby/Python is a plus)and will be able to develop an end to end solution, including database access and API integration. You will also have strong experience of JavaScript development, ideally using Angular.JS, Node.JS & JQuery; although experience of Backbone.JS or similar framework would be relevant. Grunt is also well used in our build processes.
Ideally you will have strong experience of working in an AWS environment with multi-platform technology experience, ideally PHP, Python, Ruby, Java. We believe in Polyglot approaches and the ideal candidate should be able to develop code in two or more of these languages.
Strong testing exposure and familiarity with Jasmine/Clover or other JS unit testing frameworks is also desirable as is the ability to work in partnership with QA Engineers on early stage testing of engineering deliverables and believes early coverage test coverage is important in a successful build pipeline
Experience of working in a global online business, ideally providing financial trades or transfers; of particular interest are payment companies, E-commerce platforms, financial trading platforms and online gaming experience would also be beneficial.
