My client are part of a global software group and leading providers of enterprise full service software solutions to a global client base.

Due to continued success and growth, we are are seeking to appoint a confident Graduate Software Engineer for an exciting role within our busy team. This role will initially involve hands-on support across the range of our products, a key member of our technical team working together to support, test and maintain our web-based product. As well as support and maintenance the candidate will be trained with the skills necessary to become a full time developer working on improving existing products and potentially creating exciting new products. The vast majority of the support tasks will be 2nd and 3rd line tasks that will involve database changes and development rather than simply answering 1st line queries. Training and mentoring will be provided to ensure you become confident and competent in the skills required.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The role itself is very varied and will entail:

. Provide exceptional customer support ensuring issues are fixed in a timely and efficient manner.
. Communicating positively with customers as required via phone and email ensuring customers are kept well informed of progress.
. Gaining a good understanding of the Back End architecture to ensure that detailed information is provided to the Development Team when bugs occur and when improvements are necessary.
. Identifying bugs and escalating to the Development Team when necessary.
. Communicating internally and to customers to ensure transparency of any potential issues.
. Understanding and completing any PS (Professional Services) tasks such as activating features and configuring software.
. Being proactive with support in regards to monitoring and reacting to early warning systems.
. Regular reporting of tasks and performance to the Head of Development.
. Maintaining records, materials and support documentation as required and supporting trainers to create training documentation.
. Correctly identify and record feature requests.
. Providing internal IT support to colleagues.
. Undertake learning to become an expert in TRP software and be able to deliver internal training on new features.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

. Linux knowledge
. Some PHP knowledge
. Using databases and writing MySQL (5+) commands
. Aptitude for support work and dealing with customers.

Desirable

. Software engineering-related degree
. Windows knowledge
. Some knowledge of SQL
. Experience of any of the following; PHP Unit, AJAX, PEAR, jQuery, Template Toolkit, HTML, CSS
. Apache knowledge
. Ability to use version control software, such as SVN or Git
. Experience of web application development
. Agile/Scrum development process exposure
. Previous use of bug tracking software, such as Bugzilla, Trac or Zendesk
. Previous experience with support work or dealing with customers
