Technical Author

Our award-winning, technology software client is looking for an experienced technical author to join their expanding team. You will design, produce and update a wide range of customer-facing reference material including online help, Embedded help, microcopy, whitepapers, and marketing copy for technical end users, such as system administrators and developers. As well as producing the documentation, you will work closely with UX designers, developers and other team members to help build the products to ensure the quality of the software applications.

As the successful candidate, you will:

• Have solid technical authoring experience in a software development environment.
• Be able to explain complex, technical ideas in a manner appropriate to your target audience.
• Have experience of OO programming languages (eg C, C++, Java etc.).
• Have experience of web technologies including HTML and CSS.
• Have a proactive, enthusiastic approach to writing.
• Be quick to learn new software and have a genuine interest in design and technology.
• Be able to identify ways to improve the user interface of the software, and differentiate between good and bad UX designs.
• Have excellent team working and decision making skills.
• Have a keen eye for detail.

Any experience in one or more of the following would be advantageous:

• Atlassian Confluence
• Visual Studio
• PSPad
• Database and .NET technologies
• Cloud or SaaS applications
• UX design.

The salary for this role is GBP30,000 - GBP40,000 p.a.
