Job Title: Defect Manager
Location: Hungerford
Salary: £38-45,000
Based in Hungerford, the Defect Manager will define, develop and own the end to end Defect Management process and also manages and coordinates customer expectations. Defect Manager is the point of contact within the organisation and for customers for all Defect status related queries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Creation and management of defect management process including workflow and working closely with Release Manager, QA Team, Development Team and Customer
- Producing weekly defect reports, setting up and chairing daily defect/triage meetings
- Management of all stakeholder expectations and proactively follows up with all stakeholders
- Ensuring all defects are entered correctly and controlled / managed as effectively as possible through their lifecycle.
- Participate in project risk workshops with the cross-functional project team, representing the Defect Management risks and issues
- Review project plans and determine short and medium-term work plans, planning own time to ensure completion of objectives and delivering the schedule to the specified project timescales
- Drive Root Cause Analysis investigations into test escapes, reviewing for trends or areas of weakness, and reporting findings to QA and Development Managers
- Analyse Change Controls, reporting overall product impact to the project team
- Proactively investigate, identify and implement processes to increase testing, development and defect process efficiency
Key Requirements:
- Defect management experience in ERP solutions and in Retail, Distributor and Wholesaler sector
- Previous experience in Defect Management involving client stakeholders
- Experience in configuring and administration of Defect Management tool (In house tools and ALM/QC testing Tools)
- The ability to chair, own, and steer critical development meetings to achieve a satisfactory outcome
- Ability to manage repeatable standard processes along with an ability to find, own and resolve ad-hoc issues.
- Ability to forge strong relationships with internal stakeholders and customers, influencing and persuading where appropriate and resolving any conflicts which arise.
- Ability to explain technical processes and articulate knowledge of the Defect Management process to a wide audience
- Ability to query Database, to extract statistics on defects
- Successfully owning, planning and driving a project from inception to completion
- Identifying and implementing process improvements for test and development efficiency
Desirable:
- Knowledge of KCS K8 Application software
- Business Studies qualification, for example Degree, BTEC, HND or AAT
- Development or Testing experience on a ERP product
- Using Microsoft Project to create and track project/release schedules
- ISEB Foundation
- ITIL foundation
- HP QC/ALM Certification
- PMP or PRINCE 2 Certifications in Project Management
Special conditions:
- Must maintain core hours of 10:00-16:30
- Should be prepared to work out of hours occasionally as per project needs and commitments.
- Should have a valid full UK driving license, willing to travel to customer locations
