Technical Architect

Job Introduction

As the Technical Architect you will be responsible for designing and delivering quality technical solutions can impact millions of people across the UK and abroad. As a Kainos Technical Architect, you will lead a multi skilled Agile team to deliver applications that our clients will love.

To do this, you will work with Developers, Testers, UX Designers and Researchers, Scrum Masters, Business Analysts, Security Engineers, WebOps Engineers and Product Owners.

Kainos Technical Architects are at the heart of what we deliver, so you can expect to have a varied career here at Kainos and you could find yourself in a Kainos office or on a client site working to deliver amazing products.

Main Responsibilities

As a Kainos Technical Architect you will lead a multi-skilled agile team to design and deliver application software that meets user needs and quality standards by,

-Taking responsibility for software design done by the team.
-Taking responsibility for code quality produced by the team, for example by performing code reviews.
-Taking responsibility for unit and integration testing done by the team.
-Taking responsibility for software product due diligence and integration.
-Working with Ops to ensure the application software is operationally ready.
-Advising customers and managers on the estimated effort and technical implications of user stories and user journeys.
-Hands-on design and development in modern open source platforms.
-Coaching and mentoring technical staff.
-Taking responsibility for technical solutions as part of the sales process.

The Ideal Candidate

-Software development experience in open source technologies including: HTML5, JVM languages, JavaScript, PHP, Ruby.
-Successfully delivered software designs for all the layers of multiple web-based solutions.
-Coached and mentored junior and experienced technical staff.
-Able to make effective decisions within fast-moving Agile delivery.
-Able to simply and clear communicate technical design in conversation, documentation and presentations.
-Has an open attitude to sharing information.
-Has respect of their team members and is able to provide technical leadership to a team.
-Able to prioritise their own time and activities.

The following are desirable skills:

-Able to prioritise non-functional concerns for customers and incorporate these into the application design.
-Has actively sharing their thoughts and views on technology.
-Has participated in technology communities.
-Has contributed to open source projects.
