We are currently looking for a Big Data Architect to join a leading solutions provider to assist with a global and strategic big data project. The role will involve assisting with the overall architecture and design of a big data framework that will link to a range of systems to extract data from a broad range of different sources. The project will involve working with Real Time statistical computing and analytics technology that will eventually act as the next generation analytics platform, harnessing massively-parallel statistical computing in unstructured data using Real Time analytics and statistical computing systems. The plan is to create a scalable analytics architectures that will represent the next-generation of accessible, user friendly big data framework and analytic tools. The framework will interact with platforms developed in both C++ and Java so a development background is preferred but not essential.

Previous exposure to Hadoop is preferred and experience of working with large data sets is essential. Knowledge of ETL/ELT framework will be needed as a large part of the role will involve improving and accelerating standard reporting, running multi-user ad-hoc analytics, and performing complex modelling using predictive in-database analytics. An understanding of distributed databases along with strong algorithmic and programming skills and the ability to analyse and design solutions to solve complex applications processing large data sets will be needed.
