Our client based in Northampton, but commutable from Bedford, Milton Keynes, Rugby and Coventry are a FTSE 250 company and the group includes some of the UK's leading brands. They are growing and investing in IT and their people. They are undergoing some exciting changes and are looking to recruit an experienced Infrastructure Designer to join and expand their team .

Your skills in regard to Infrastructure design specifically,Open Source, virtualization, storage and procedures ( physical hardware and SAN storage needs are morphing into cloud technologies ) and experience in an Agile environment are worth emphasizing. This is an infrastructure designer role, where you will be working on multiple projects, utilising a number of technologies across all areas of infrastructure. So again worth mentioning experience working on multiple projects if not clear on your CV. Starting Salary is to cGBP50,000 negotiable + car or car allowance of GBP4,500 plus up to 15% bonus, full medical cover for you and your family, pension scheme, company discounts etc

We are looking for experts in either Windows or Linux operating systems and applications, with a proven track record of designing, deploying and maintaining systems.

The skills we require are:

• Application and Server virtualisation technologies and components

• Network LAN/WAN technologies and knowledge of Switches (eg Cisco)

• Server Platforms including i86 and Itanium blades

• Storage Platforms including Block, San, and File

• For Linux experts, we are looking for experience in Open Source technologies, including MySQL, Apache and Tomcat

Whilst not essential, knowledge of Apache Openstack, Java, Oracle, Google Apps, automation and orchestration, would be considered extremely useful.

The Role

They are currently seeking a highly experienced and original thinking Infrastructure Designer to be responsible for the design of infrastructure technologies used within the Group.

This is a crucial role where you will be translating high level business requirements into workable solutions and contributing significantly to the Group IT technical strategy.

You will be involved in a number of business critical infrastructure design projects; working alongside other experts and utilising a range of different technologies to create scalable solutions for our large enterprise business.

Your expertise will also be called on to provide technical guidance to IT management and to project teams as required.

There are many large-scale projects and developments in the pipeline.

Starting Salary is to cGBP50,000 + car or car allowance of GBP4,500 plus up to 15% bonus, healthcare, pension scheme.
