An excellent opportunity has now arisen for Higher Education Learning Mentor to join our client on a part time, maternity cover contract in Blackpool.

As Higher Education Learning Mentor, you will assess and respond to key academic study skills and life challenges affecting learners’ ability to study and progress. You will also identify, devise, prepare and deliver effective individual and group support/workshops.

You will also be responsible for actively participating in planning, organisation and the review of study/life skills initiatives, events, schedule of workshops from pre induction through to graduation.

Whilst supporting students in managing their course of study, you will also work closely in liaison with internal service colleagues within Student Support and Wellbeing Services and colleagues within academic school areas and the Learning Resource Centres.

In order to be successful in this role, you should hold a Degree applicable to the delivery of study skills at Higher Education level along with a teaching qualification.  A Mathematics/English qualification at Level 2 (GCSE) or above is essential and you should also possess an IT Qualification, for example ECDL or CLAIT.

Candidates should also hold an appropriate professional experience in teaching study/life skills in an HE and or FE setting or similar customer focused training activities.   A proven ability to identify and facilitate strategies to help young people develop coping skills in relation to academic, and wellbeing issues is also important.
