Role Overview

Sopra Steria's Commercial Development Teams are growing!

We have a fantastic opportunity for a senior qualified Financial Accountant to join our team as a Commercial Development Manager working as part of one of the most exciting teams in Sopra Steria. You will be a senior member of the team responsible for the pricing and financials on some of our most significant external bids ranging in value from GBP1 million up to GBP100+million. This role will have you working with almost every department in Sopra Steria from technical teams up to Board Directors. It is a fantastic opportunity to develop commercial skills and develop understanding of IT and BPO services.

Responsibilities

  • Required to efficiently collate, validate, understand, analyse and challenge the costs and assumptions underpinning the financial models.
  • This will require engagement with various Steria teams including, but not limited to, solutioning, delivery, sales, risk, commercial, legal, finance, tax, and client account management.
  • Ensuring the accuracy, completeness and independent audit of the financial models
  • Understanding and supporting the Steria and/or client business case
  • Considering and presenting, where appropriate, alternative commercial options and scenarios
  • Where required from time to time, negotiating and participating in dialogue with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Negotiating and participating in dialogue with clients and potential clients and their nominated advisors
  • Supporting the Steria contract development and legal teams with financial information relevant to the project
  • Supporting colleagues in the Commercial Development Team during their holiday periods and with deadlines on other projects within the Team
  • Complying with the Steria governance process - providing supporting material and responding to actions where required
  • Engaging and communicating regularly with key stakeholders including the Commercial Development Director and other senior management

Essential skills & experience

  • Formal accountancy qualification and awareness of current accounting standards and principles (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • Proven experience working on IT and BPO bids worth GBP100,000 up to GBP50M+
  • Ideally past experience working for a Consultancy or IT Outsourcer
  • Management of multiple projects and bids in parallel, prioritising appropriately
  • Advanced numeracy, including ability to quickly articulate the impact of changes and suggestions when asked in reviews
  • Exceptional verbal and written presentation and communication skills
  • Responding positively to tight deadlines, working additional hours where necessary to meet requirements to a high standard
  • Experience of working on projects in a financial capacity
  • Experience of working directly with, or for, external clients and their advisors
  • Ideally, experience of a transaction support or advisory project environment with an accountancy practice employer
