Desktop Hardware Management Lead

Role summary:
This position will be responsible for both day to day BAU operations, as well as the management of our clients IT hardware portfolio. Working with a multitude of vendors and play a key role in the selection, definition and management of our clients IT hardware portfolio.
Accountabilities for the role:
Desktop Hardware Management 40%, Customer Relationship Management 10%, Vendor Relationship 20%, BAU Operations (30%).
Accountabilities:
Desktop Hardware Management (40%)
To understand the marketplace, keeping abreast of new technologies and also maintaining Vendor product awareness.
To demonstrate products to Customers to help refine their requirements and facilitate a choice.
Interpret product roadmaps and ensure action taken is taken to ensure constant supply.
To obtain and review proactive Vendor information relating to product changes.
Agree and sign off new product documentation
Continually monitor product performance and assist with corrective action as required.
Take an active role in the management of product related issues.
Maintain all administrative documentation as required.
Customer Relationship Management (10%)
Through contact with our customers and support teams ensure that key deliverables, timescales and expectations are met.
Be mindful of business opportunities and advise appropriate contacts
Work with customer and other parties to improve our service offering.
Act as an interface and escalation point with the customer and support teams
Vendor Relationship (20%)
Maintain and develop vendor relationships to ensure overall service and product expectations are met.
Act as an interface and escalation point with the vendors.
BAU Operations (30%)
Day to day management of BAU operations
Management of engineering resources across the UK
Act as an escalation point for reported IT issues
Person specification
Knowledge and key skills:
Minimum of 5 years' experience in a relevant position within the IT industry
Communication skills (verbal & written)
Planning & Organisational skills
Good interpersonal and Customer facing skills
Proven ability to work under pressure
Self-motivated
Ability to organise workload
Commercially aware
Strong proposal and report writing skills
General level of technical awareness
Sound understanding of Microsoft Operating Systems (including XP/W7) and other industry standard applications.
Previous supplier/service provider experience
ITIL V3 Certification
Networks throughout industry (Desirable)
