Warehouse Application Support Consultant - Contract - London - Great Rates!

We've just had an excellent requirement come through for a Warehouse Application Support Consultant based in London on a contractual basis. For this role you must be DV Cleared.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and responding to application performance
  • Responding to and resolving incidents within agreed service levels
  • Participating in the on call rota and responding to incidents out of hours
  • Performing root cause and incident analysis on complex issues, via code inspection if necessary
  • Working closely with client resources (at various technical levels) to resolve incidents in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Undertaking of risk and impact analysis for complex changes
  • Working closely with 3rd line resources to articulate issues and assist with resolution, including verification testing
  • Identify opportunities and deliver knowledge to 1st line support teams to improve the first time fix rate and drive down incident volumes
  • Working with Service Delivery Managers to deliver an effective service to their customers within the agreed budget
  • Working closely with the project team to build knowledge and transition new features and application enhancements into support
  • Working with the Support Service team, technical and infrastructure architects to support the client requirements
  • Produce and update process documentation to a high standard
  • Identify opportunities for service improvement using initiative and customer feedback

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience of working in an application support environment
  • Ability to understand and address underlying behaviours of application code, data structures and performance and system architecture
  • Knowledge of ITIL framework
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Be able to communicate clearly (verbally and in written form)
  • Excellent communicator of technical matters to non-technical personnel
  • Service and customer focussed and takes pride in customer satisfaction
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work autonomously and prioritise workload to meet milestones and deliverables
  • Going beyond routine questioning to find the underlying causes of issues or discrepancies to identify root cause and develop sound solutions
  • Experienced software development in Oracle PL/SQL (10g/11g) or Microsoft C#/NET (min 2 years)
  • Batch Scripting (UNIX, DOS)
  • Experience using Active Directory to administer Windows domains

Desired Requirements:

  • ITIL v3 Foundation Certified
  • Experience in conducting impact assessments, enhancement specifications, and full change life cycle
  • Motivated to broaden skill base and learn new technologies
  • Good negotiation skills to work to resolve conflicts or differences by finding areas of agreement that benefit the organisation and individuals
  • Experience of administering Windows Server 2003/2008
  • Experience of using ESRI GIS mapping software
  • Familiarity with UNIX-based operating system
  • Experience of administering Apache Web Server and/or Apache Tomcat Java Container
