IBM Storage Sales Specialist

60k - 80k + Uncapped OTE + Core & Voluntary Benefits + Car

London/Hatfield/Reading - UK Travel Required

Due to continued growth a new and exciting opportunity has arisen within my clients Datacentre Sales Team for an IBM Storage Sales Specialist. The successful applicant will be responsible for selling IBM storage solutions in particular DS8000 and V7000 to large UK enterprise businesses.

The successful individual will have a proven track record in IBM datacentre and storage solution sales and will be responsible for working with the account team to manage my clients end to end sales and commercial engagement for storage opportunities. This role involves an attractive commission plan to reward but tactical deal engagement and long term market development activity.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide end to end ownership for sales opportunities on behalf of the Datacentre line of business team, focussing solely on IBM on storage
  • Support the qualification process with the account team to truly understand customer requirements and ensure that resources are appropriately deployed
  • Assist the customer through a process of understanding their requirements, defining a solution and creating a compelling proposition; with responsibility for then negotiating commercials, closing the deal and providing commercial direction for the project
  • Manage the internal service providers and any external suppliers
  • Support, guide and coach the sales team to define, differentiate, develop, lead and close deals
  • Drive partnership and collaboration with vendors
  • Develop and drive a joint business plan with the Client Director to maximise opportunities and grow market share

Key Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years+ selling Enterprise class storage solutions (IBM/HP/Netapp/EMC)
  • Experience of selling to CXO/IT Director level
  • Technical understanding of storage hardware (disk and tape), storage software (back up/virtualisation/management tools) and storage networking technologies (SAN, NAS, iSCSI)
  • Experience of selling both DS8000 and V7000 IBM products
  • Knowledge and experience selling IBM Storage solutions
  • Existing working relationships with IBM sellers and technical personnel
  • Experience of selling to large UK enterprise business eg FTSE 250, or large public sector organisations
  • A proactive hunger for sales and success
  • Evidence of solution based selling, particularly with a good knowledge of complex professional services engagements and datacentre managed services
  • The ability to qualify and develop new clients from a cold start and manage the entire deal life cycle from inception through to successful project outcome
  • A strong understanding of the principles of technology, emerging technologies and the broader market
