Electronic Trading SME sought to lead Electronic Trading Risk in Europe, focusing on Operational Risk and Technology Risk.

This is a newly created hands-on role which will initially focus on Risk Management across the Equities and Listed Derivatives businesses, but which will take ownership of Electronic Trading Risk for FICC and FX later down the line. This will focus primarily on Execution Risk and the successful hire will be devising and implementing policies, procedures and frameworks around themes such as Limit Setting, Best Execution and Internalisation. As this is not a role which exists in most Trading organisations, we are keen to speak to applicants from varied backgrounds such as a track-record as a COO, Coverage Desk/Sales Traders and Product Development/Product Manager, although Electronic Trading expertise is the number one requirement. This is an exciting opportunity to influence the way the firm defines and manages electronic trading risk and to shape the structure of this new role.

Responsibilities

  • Identifying, categorising and validating the risks associated with all electronically traded flow
  • Ensuring risk oversight feeds into the appropriate governance model
  • Reviewing intraday trading limits structure/controls and establishing/validating limit setting logic where necessary
  • Developing metrics and identification of key performance metrics quantifying the effectiveness of the risk framework
  • Reviewing and developing a uniform standard for the use of execution algorithms and the associated risk & control framework
  • Contributing to test planning and deployment as appropriate

Requirements

  • Experience of electronic cash equity trading or market making experience
  • Comfortable understanding of underlying e-trading technology
  • Self starter with the ability to define and evolve a role within broad guidelines
  • Strong organisational and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to interact and influence at all levels within the firm
  • Ability to adapt and extend current knowledge base to adjacent lines of business
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Must be comfortable making and taking accountability for decisions

This is an exciting opportunity to influence the way the firm defines and manages electronic trading risk and to shape the structure of this new role.
