Transport Operations Manager

They are looking to appoint a Transport Operations Manager based in the North to develop their business.

They are seeking an accomplished Transport Operations Manager who has provided agency labor services at a high level - you will be selling and providing a first class service to major companies within the Transport/logistics Industry. You will thrive on new challenges and be able to deliver new innovative solutions to expand into new areas. You will be comfortable with hunting down new business and generating new leads.

You will head the Transport function in North and ensure drivers are recruited and supplied to the highest standard and that all driver compliance is adhered to. Therefore you will be an excellent, professional and credible line manager who develops their own team to ensure driver bookings, payroll and recruitment processes are all adhered to.

You will be experienced in delivering sales and fulfillment targets and understand budgets and profitability measures and will be fully confident in delivering a regional transport strategy working with the directors of the business.

You will be expected to recruit and manage a small team based in the North of the country as the role progresses to enhance their current sales and service delivery targets, this will include sourcing office space along with the Transport Director.

Key Responsibilities:

- Hunt out and win new business within the driving sector
- Exceed annual sales and margin targets as agreed
- Develop a strategic transport hub, including recruitment of key staff
- Deliver a first class service to their clients
- Ensure drivers are recruited as per company policy
- Ensure legal and company compliance are adhered to at all times.
- Manage your team effectively and with professionalism

The ideal candidate must possess:

- Proven track record within Driver agency labor sector
- A consultative approach, able to hold high level dialogue with key decision makers
- Strong commercial acumen along with excellent negotiation skills to ensure optimum profitability whist giving first class service
- Excellent understanding of margins/profitability and accounts
- Minimum 5 years Transport Management experience, ideally in the agency labor sector
- Well educated and articulate
- Ideally a CPC holder
- Previously worked at Senior Manager including team management
- Fully PC literate, able to use Outlook, MS Office packages and understands e-tendering
- Full Clean Driving License, Willing to travel
