The company is the Executive body that provides professional, strategic and operational transport advice to the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority to enable it to make informed decisions. It is also the delivery arm, making transport happen. 

Job Role:

Reporting to the Principal Officer - Structural, Civils and Marine, the Senior Officer, Structural, Civil and Marine will assist in delivering an integrated structural, civils and marine engineering function for existing and refurbished assets via a team within a matrix structure (utilising internal labour force or external resources as appropriate) to deliver an efficient and cost effective technical service to internal clients.

The Senior Officer, Structural, Civil and Marine will deliver specialist projects that embrace a number of structural civils and marine engineering disciplines to relevant technical standards within designated budgets – whilst meeting pre-determined quality, environmental and health and safety standards.  The Post holder will be required to assist in delivering works of civil and structural disciplines with the ability to complete analysis of various structures across the company’s estate. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • The delivery of a cost effective structural, civils and marine engineering function for existing and refurbished assets whilst meeting quality, environmental and health and safety standards.
  • Optimise performance on all technical contracts, in relation to structural, civils and marine issues and ensure they are designed, installed, operated and maintained in accordance with best practice and statutory health and safety legislation and ensure that assets are continuously available to customers via optimum solutions.
  • Achieve the optimum performance standards and ratings as specified and as appropriate to ensure maximum levels of efficiency of all structures, civil and marine assets.
  • Assist in the delivery of relevant outcomes/outputs are delivered in accordance with service level agreements with key clients to ensure maximum levels of customer satisfaction.

Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience at a senior level of structural, civil, and marine engineering and estate maintenance in a multi-disciplinary environment while ensuring the safe, reliable operation and utilisation of the estate.
  • A relevant degree or equivalent.
  • Being commercially aware, must possess the ability to negotiate and deliver commercial contracts and manage external suppliers delivery and performance to meet their financial, quality and programme management commitments.
  • Assist with production of annual service review data and input into Asset Management Service Plan with recommendations for service delivery improvement.
  • Acknowledge of the requirements of the Marine Management Organisation (MMO).
  • Fully conversant with all DDA, Health and Safety, Planning, Building Codes and Environmental legislation including Codes of Practice.
  • Ability to take initiative to respond to emergency issues as they arise, determination to deliver and to work to deadlines.
