An International food manufacturer, who supply the major multiple retailers with high-quality branded foods. This company have enjoyed significant growth in demand for their food, and are constantly investing in their portfolio of products. They are seeking to appoint a Continuous Improvement Manager to take on a new and exciting challenge, introducing the tools and techniques of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement.

The Role

The Continuous Improvement Manager will establish a cohesive CI strategy for the site and implement and coordinate the strategy by coaching and developing production teams, driving a culture of Lean and introducing techniques that will improve the capability and efficiency of people, plant and processes.

The individual appointed must be able to demonstrate success in introducing a range of Lean and CI methodologies that has led to step-change improvements within a Food or FMCG Manufacturing environment. All applicants must have experience of applying a range of Lean approaches such as: 5S, SMED, Value Stream Mapping, 8 Wastes of Lean, DMAIC, TPM.

There will be responsibility for driving cultural change by coaching, training, mentoring, and deploying the Lean Framework that sets the agenda for change. The jobholder will engage with personnel at all levels of the business and cultivate Lean Leader behaviour across the Factory.

The Continuous Improvement Manager role is a new position within the business, and as such is highly visible within the Group. The jobholder will have the necessary support from the top management team. As the company are at the very beginning of their journey to becoming a Lean organisation, there is great scope for someone to come in and make an immediate impact with some 'easy wins' by introducing some Lean/CI fundamentals.

The Person

Appointing someone who fits the culture of the business is crucial and characteristics required are energy, drive, engagement, and the ability to influence and work autonomously. Your experience should be underpinned by practical understanding of the theory behind CI/Lean initiatives and we are seeking an individual with Green Belt Six Sigma or equivalent.

We are looking for someone who has 'seen it and 'done it' and is fully in tune with what it takes to start from a low base and lead and drive improvements, resulting in the adoption of a CI culture and the resulting improvement in efficiencies, costs and ways of working.

This is an exciting new position, where someone can get in at the early stages and influence and shape the success of the business. In the longer term, this position also offers the opportunity to get involved with European Wide CI projects, as part of the wider Group.

Salary GBP40,000 to GBP50,000 pa depending on experience + Bonus (Typically c GBP5,000 per annum) + Pension + BUPA + Critical Illness Cover. (Possible Relocation Package).
