Senior Support Engineer/Network Manager (School ICT)

A great opportunity for a Senior ICT Customer Support Engineer/Network Manager (MS Server 2008,2012/Win 7/8, AD, DHCP, VMware, Citrix, CC4 etc) to provide lead onsite IT school support as part of an IT managed service with one of the 'UK's Top IT Employers'*.

Working within RM's BSF ('Building Schools for the Future') IT Programme in Hull, the Senior ICT Customer Support Engineer will be part of a core team delivering a comprehensive ICT Managed Service against SLAs to secondary schools.

The Senior ICT Customer Support Engineer will be predominantly based at one school site as the technical lead, but will also build strong relationships with the school leadership and teaching staff, ensure contractual compliance and improved operational efficiency. You'll have a large degree of ownership and will also assign tasks to a more junior On-site Engineer. You'll also benefit from the support of a wider regional team as well as technical experts at Head Office.

This is a varied IT lead support role in a very rewarding environment that requires the building of strong relationships with the school staff. If you're a Senior ICT Support Engineer with broad technical problem solving skills, are a great communicator with a proactive attitude and ultimately get a real buzz out of going the extra mile for customers, this is the role for you.

The Individual

  • 2nd/3rd line IT support & implementation experience including MS Server 2008/2012/XP/7/8, AD, Group policies, DNS, DHCP, network infrastructure, VMware, Citrix, CC4, Switches etc, ideally within a customer-focused environment
  • Strong problem solving abilities. Excellent communication, customer handling and inter-personal skills
  • Strong planning, organising and prioritising abilities. Target focused. Flexible to cope with change, be proactive and adapt quickly to a developing type of service delivery
  • Prior school ICT support experience as a senior technician or a 'hands-on' Network Manager may be useful, but isn't critical.
  • Flexible to visit other schools across Hull as required
