About the role:

HMRC UX/Interaction Designers work together collaboratively using agile methodology and closely with others in the Digital Centre, such as content designers, user researchers and other agile team members, to design innovative digital products based on clear user needs and iteratively tested with real users. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in Digital, the web and its possibilities, a passion for design and will ideally be experienced in design-related work. Designers will work closely together as a community of practice, share design ideas, proactively seek new learning opportunities and welcome constructive criticism when designing digital products and services.

In this role you will:

  • Design and deliver a wide range of forms and associated products that are designed around user needs but which also help HMRC meet its business objectives, ensuring they meet HMRC standards, including brand guidelines

  • Design a range of forms products (including forms, guidance, leaflets, factsheets, help-sheets) in various product media (eg, Online) working to set deadlines for some products

  • Work as part of a Design delivery team helping to ensure critical deadlines are met and
    contribute to delivering HMRC Digital Services Key Performance Indicator targets

  • Work closely with HMRC key stakeholders (eg, Line of Business areas, Risk and Information Security campaigns) and external suppliers

  • Work in a responsive, constructive way delivering and designing digital forms at pace using essential skills, using current design software and ability to use and adapt to suing innovative software and new ways of working

  • Help to produce design concepts for digital services, often working to very tight deadlines, and work collaboratively with others to implement those concepts

  • Deliver high quality finished digital service designs that meet web standards and GDS/GOV.UK design principles, ensuring that elements such as accessibility are built into designs from the outset.
