Senior Embedded Software/Firmware Engineer - South West

IC-Resources have an urgent requirement for a Senior Embedded Software/Firmware Engineer for a major client based in the South West. The contract is for 3 months but with the possibility of further extensions beyond the initial period. The role will be accountable for embedded software for advanced domestic heating control products with heavy involvement in full life cycle Firmware development for new products.

Key Responsibilities:
*Develop the concept, system design and software architecture for new products
*Full lifecycle involvement, participating in and leading the detailed design, coding and validation of software
*Ensure that the integrity of the system and software architecture is maintained throughout the lifecycle of the product
*To co-ordinate with other functions to ensure the timely delivery of new products according to agreed timescales
*Adopt in-house best practice for code integrity and design validation

Key requirements

You will have solid experience of embedded software development and embedded software languages (C, C++ and assembly).

Experience of working in a volume manufacture environment would be an advantage, but not essential.

Essential
*Object-oriented development
*Practical understanding of Unified Modelling Language (UML)
*Proven skills in advanced C++

Desirable
*Excellent understanding of electronics and microcontroller-based embedded systems
*Experience of coaching, software development supervision or team-leading
*Experience of Lean Agile processes, especially Test-Driven Development
*Experience of low-power wireless communications, especially IEEE 802.15.4
*Experience of ARM Cortex based microcontrollers
*Experience in software design for RTOS-based systems
*Experience of revision control and source code management systems, especially Git
