Our organisers are a proactive team working nationwide. The team's objective is to build capacity and an organising approach in the union, to grow ATL membership, and to integrate campaigning, union learning and health & safety into organising activity.

Working with branches and reps in both state and independent sectors, FE colleges and academies, you will lead projects to develop local networks, activity and membership. You will collaborate with colleagues to identify, engage and develop members and reps, revitalising local member organisation.

You will demonstrate initiative and the ability to create innovative ways to involve ATL's members and potential members in the union. You will demonstrate excellent communication skills and be able to make a strong case for union membership. You will also have a good track record of personal organisation and achieving targets, preparing effective organising materials and delivering against organising and recruitment objectives in a member-driven organisation.

The role is field based and working from home. You must be willing and able to travel extensively within your region. The ability to drive is desirable but not essential. Some national travel will be required. ATL does not cover relocation expenses.

This role has been assessed as requiring an enhanced certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service. If successful, you will be required to complete a DBS check application. Having a criminal record will not necessarily bar you from working with us.
