Senior Operational Risk Manager | Retail Banking Group | London- GBP50,000-72,000 with excellent package

My client, a UK retail banking group are looking to grow their Operational Risk team within their London office. The team are based in the heart of the city, within one of the UK's most reputable businesses. This is an excellent opportunity to a Risk Manager within the retail banking space to join a growing team (there are three new starters in January already.)

The team is looking to constructively challenge the business ensuring that operational risk is highlighted and partnered with suggestions and tangible business recommendations on how to mitigate the risk going forward.

The team also has responsibility for business oversight and assurance activities in relation to Conduct & Compliance, Operational Risk and Financial Crime; in addition to implementing the Conduct Strategy, managing the People Risk Agenda, liaison with the regulators and managing Insurable Risks for the Group.

This is a very engaging and exciting time to join the business, keeping up with the ever changing nature of the regulatory environment and focus. With a clear vision centred on the customers, and with a wealth of support from other areas within the business, no two days will be the same. The successful candidate will work closely with business units in Operations to provide independent risk opinion and challenge to senior leaders. The candidate will also be responsible for driving the Operational Risk agenda and priorities for the business, whilst supporting the deliverables of the Operational Risk Capability Programme.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills:

• Degree level education
• Demonstrable experience in retail/wholesale banking as a Risk Manager, with exposure to/experience in operational risk.
• Clear examples of stakeholder management/senior management handling with very strong communication skills
• Evidence of Risk Analysis from 1st or 2nd line support, accompanied by experience in highlighting and mitigating risk.
