Aluminium Window/Curtain Walling Designer

 

Euro Windows Ltd has been fabricating windows and doors since 1971.  We supply and install aluminium windows, doors and curtain walling for both the refurbishment and new build markets.  With contract values upto £3m the environment is challenging and at times pressurised but also involving and offering opportunities to develop professionally.  Due to growth and increasingly demanding contracts we are looking for a motivated designer who is equally able to work on their own or as part of a team. 

It is important that you have the skills and knowledge to enable you to adapt to new products.  You must also be able to communicate your designs to the fabricators and installers and liaise with the client to insure we meet deadlines to deliver products to site. 

In addition to designing, you will be required to produce fabrication and fixing  details and information to order materials, glass, fixings, pressings etc. 

All your work will need to comply with the relevant Building Regulations and meet the client’s specification. 

 

Mandatory Requirements  

  • Experience of designing curtain wall, windows and doors and associated interfaces for new build and refurbishment projects

  • Experience of carrying out site surveys and measurements for refurbishment projects

  • CAD & IT skills

  • Experience of using LogiCAL, SchuCal, HueckTec or similar

  • Project planning experience

  • Fluent English speaker and good communication skills

  • Able to operate as a member of a team

  • Driving licence

  • Able to read drawings and plans

  • Experience of designing to meet U & G values, wind loads, acoustic, ventilation and structural requirements and the ability to select the relevant products to meet the specification at the lowest cost.

 

Preferred Skills, Qualifications, Experience & Other Requirement

  • Knowledge of Building Regulations and British Standards

  • Diligent and methodical approach to work

  • Confidence in his/her experience to make decisions

  • Knowledge of Sapa, Schuco, Hueck and Kawneer systems

  • CSCS card

  • Self-motivated and able to work under pressure and to deadlines

  • Experience of cladding systems (specification, design, fabrication and installation)

  • Knowledge of UK Building Regulations

      

Main Duties                        

  • Produce CAD drawings for client approval showing fenestration and section through and fixing details

  • Design products to reduce costs while meeting client requirements, contract specifications, Building Regulations, Best Practice and British Standards

  • Carry out site surveys

  • Project administration

  • Gain written drawing approval prior to production

  • Generate detailed work instructions for fitter and production

  • Respond to queries raised from production or site during installation

  • Design and order fixings, pressings and associated martials used in the installation of curtain walling, windows and doors

     

    Secondary Duties

  • Attend pre contract and design meetings

  • Provide information from which orders for materials and plant can be generated

  • Prioritise work to meet installation dates

  • Record quantity changes for the Valuation Department

  • Provide clients with costs for additional items

  • Manage design changes to production documents
