Cover Supervisor
Mainstream secondary schools in the East Lancashire area, currently have a very high demand for experienced cover supervisors. Initially the cover supervisor positions will start on a temporary basis but for the right candidates it may become longer term. Cover Supervisor duties will include covering classes throughout the whole school across Key Stage 3 & 4. The cover supervisor classes will include all national curriculum subjects and will include GCSE classes.
The role will involve delivery of pre planned and set work by the class teacher, supervising the class, answering pupil's questions, ensuring that there is a positive learning environment for the students, taking the register and providing written feedback at the end of the class for the class teacher. Cover supervisors will be expected to be organised, have good attendance and good behaviour management skills.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a proven track record of working with the secondary age range. They will have excellent classroom management skills and this will need to be backed up by a recent reference.
Excellent communication skills are essential as is the ability to write accurate reports and manage your own changing timetable. Candidates should have a good understanding of the national curriculum and will ideally be qualified to degree level or equivalent in a core subject such as maths, English or Science. Strong ICT skills are also desirable.
As a minimum requirement we are looking for candidates with at least 3 months experience working with secondary aged pupils and experience of working with large groups.
A Degree, PGCE in FE, Overseas Qualified Teachers, part time PGCE students or TEFL qualified candidates would be suitable for this role. Youth workers or sports coaches are also very welcome to apply.
